Posada Amazonas is the rare lodge where the community-tourism label is the literal truth: the place sits in 9,500 hectares of reserve owned by the indigenous Ese-Eja community of Infierno, run in partnership with Rainforest Expeditions. The roughly thirty rooms are open-walled — no windows, just mosquito nets and the forest pressing in — so the night sounds are the entertainment, and you accept that going in. There's a canopy tower for the dawn birding, and the package handles transfers, meals and guided activities so you can stop thinking about logistics. It's not the slickest lodge in Tambopata, but it's the one where your money demonstrably stays in the forest and with the people who live in it. Sold as a 2–3 night package. Verdict: book this if you want the wildlife and a clear conscience in the same trip.
