Airbnb and Tripadvisor Partner for Experience Growth

Airbnb will integrate a selection of Tripadvisor tours and activities onto its platform later in 2026, aiming to scale its Experiences business.

Airbnb and Tripadvisor Group have announced a partnership that will bring a selection of Tripadvisor experiences to the Airbnb platform later in 2026. This agreement aims to expand Airbnb’s offerings beyond accommodation, integrating activities from an established third-party marketplace. The companies did not disclose the number of products involved or the initial destinations covered by this partnership. Tripadvisor currently offers approximately 425,000 experiences globally through its tours and activities business, which includes Viator.

This move aligns with Airbnb’s broader strategy to scale its Experiences business, which relaunched alongside Airbnb Services in May 2025. During Airbnb’s second-quarter earnings call, co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky noted that the platform had added 1,000 experiences across its popular categories during that quarter, representing an almost 80 percent increase in supply year on year. Chesky stated that bookings had grown year on year and compared with the previous quarter, though Experiences remain a small part of Airbnb’s overall business.

Airbnb is focusing its expansion on a limited number of markets before a wider introduction. Chesky described this as a “one, to ten, to many” strategy, similar to the method used to expand Airbnb’s accommodation business. He indicated that the platform is currently active in “tens of markets” showing high growth, and that Experiences will grow quickly when this approach is industrialized to thousands of markets, though not this year. The company also reported in November 2025 that almost half of its Experience bookings were not linked to an Airbnb stay, indicating demand beyond its accommodation guests.

Kristin Dorsett, general manager of Experiences at Tripadvisor Group, commented, “Experiences are at the heart of great travel. Helping travellers discover and book the world’s best things to do is our focus, and we’re proud to partner with Airbnb to bring the world’s best things to do to more travellers.” For property managers, Airbnb’s expansion into activities could open avenues to connect accommodation with in-destination spending. However, the companies have not specified whether hosts or property managers will be able to package, recommend, or earn revenue from the Tripadvisor-supplied products. Tripadvisor has also previously expanded its experience inventory distribution through other channels, including Google’s Gemini, Frontier Airlines, Uber, and Booking.com.

Jungle stay hosts and travelers may see a wider range of activities available for booking directly through Airbnb, potentially simplifying travel planning for those seeking local excursions and adventures.
