Wildwood Retreat House

A two-bedroom house at the heart of Cape Tribulation on a rare-fruit orchard inside seven acres of privately held Wet Tropics World Heritage rainforest, with more than eight hundred fruit trees on the property and a freshwater swimming pool reserved for the house. Depending on the season the host lets guests pick mangosteens, soursop, jackfruit and lady-finger bananas. The house sleeps five across four beds with two bathrooms, and the same retreat has two smaller rainforest cabins listed separately. Cape Tribulation beach, where the forest meets the reef, is a ten-minute walk, and so are the tours, the pub and the cafés, which at the end of the sealed road matters more than it sounds.
