Casa Arca is an architect's house in the forest — designed by Atelier Marko Brajovic, the studio behind several of Paraty's most photographed jungle builds — set inside Aldeia Rizoma, an ecological community about 20–25 minutes from the historic center. The arched timber structure sleeps six across two bedrooms plus a convertible living room, and the everyday details are sorted: full kitchen, dedicated workspace, Starlink internet fast enough for video calls, solar power, sauna, even an EV charger. The reason you book it, though, is outside: a natural waterfall and swimming hole within walking distance, monkeys and toucans in the canopy, and trails straight out of the gate. With 364 reviews at 4.91 it's one of the most consistently liked stays in the region. You'll want a car — the access road is forest track, and town runs (and restaurants) are a drive away.
Reaching Aldeia Rizoma and what the house has
Casa Arca is in Aldeia Rizoma at km 10 of the Paraty–Cunha road, which the host puts 10.5 km from Paraty's historic centre on a paved road. The host describes the land as bordering Serra da Bocaina National Park, with the Caminho do Ouro, the old gold road, a few steps away. Coming from São Paulo, the host recommends driving via Cunha and down the mountain to Paraty. Rio de Janeiro's airport (GIG) and São Paulo's (GRU) are both roughly 170 km away in a straight line.
