Selva Minca is a small eco-lodge perched above Minca, in the cloud forest of the Sierra Nevada, and the treehouses are the reason to come. They're open-air and en-suite — Cañaflecha takes two, Higuerón sleeps up to four under mosquito nets with a queen and twins — so you fall asleep with the jungle on three sides and wake to it on all four. If you've got a group, the taller Cielo lookout cabin handles up to seven across two bedrooms and two baths, with the best of the views thrown in. Birds, monkeys and waterfalls are all within reach, and the jungle-and-mountain backdrop does most of the heavy lifting. The prices stay refreshingly sane for what you get. Verdict: the value treehouse pick of Minca, and a fine base for everything around it.
