The Bird Tower

A treehouse built as a birdwatching tower: four floors, each with a 360-degree view over six acres of secondary cloud forest, three kilometres out of Mindo on the road birders call the main trail. The host, twelve years in, describes it as a nature lover's dream and means it literally, with hummingbirds and parrots by day and kinkajous and other nocturnal animals after dark. The tower was renovated in early 2025, the kitchen doubled in size and made mosquito-proof, and the first two floors reinforced. Ziplines are a five-minute walk and the waterfall cable car about twenty-five. Sleeps four with two beds and one bath. This is a rustic build in a wet forest, and the reviews say as much; it holds a 4.81 across more than a hundred of them.
