Sepilok Nature Lodge
The lodge for Sepilok, the forest reserve outside Sandakan that holds the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre next door. The lodge sits inside the Kabili-Sepilok reserve within walking distance of the orangutan centre, twenty-five kilometres and about forty minutes' drive from Sandakan, which has daily flights from Kota Kinabalu. It is a large property by jungle standards, sixty twin-share chalets built from local wood and dressed in handcrafted textiles, each with air conditioning, hot water and a private verandah facing the garden or the lake. Guided walks go out in the morning and evening, and the restaurant serves local and international food with Wi-Fi. Sold as packages from RM 1,725 for two days and one night, including the Sepilok visits. A comfortable first or last night before the Kinabatangan or Danum Valley.
