Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge

Sweet Songs is two to two and a half hours by road from Belize International Airport, heading west toward San Ignacio, with the last stretch running through forest along the Macal River. The lodge runs scheduled airport transfers and books vans for groups of four or fewer, and Muy'Ono's VIP service can meet you after customs and connect you to a commuter flight or a road transfer. Carry your passport and proof of onward travel. Check-in is at 3 pm and checkout at 11 am.

The Treehouse rooms are adults only and sleep two, with a king bed, air conditioning and a fan, a private shower and a porch on the second level with a net daybed above the patio; stairs are the only way up. The Premier Treehouse adds a screened porch with a hanging daybed and an outdoor bathtub facing the jungle and river. The Double Queen Casitas are the lodge's choice for families. Every room type has air conditioning except the guest houses. Wifi covers the bar, restaurant and front desk and is listed for the treehouses, while most other rooms go without it by design.

The all-inclusive plan has to cover your whole stay. It brings three locally sourced meals a day, local drinks with and without alcohol, the hiking trails, and free use of river tubes, canoes and bikes, and the kitchen packs a picnic lunch for full-day outings. Guided tours are booked on top, among them cave tubing, horseback rides to nearby Maya sites and a zip line that reaches 120 feet above the forest floor. The new Samanea Spa offers massages, body wraps and facials.

Power is 110 volts with US plugs. Tap water is fine for showers and brushing teeth, but drink the filtered water from the bar and front office, and each guest gets a reusable bottle. Laundry is a paid service: put the bag outside your door by 9 am and it comes back by 4 pm. A 10 percent service charge applies to rooms, food and drinks.
